Mitla

Mitla (state of Oaxaca, Mexico) is famous for its arqueological site with the most exquisit patterns on the walls. Its history is very complex as it has been occupied by several cultures, having some notorious Zapotec influence in the early years (around 200 AD).

This spanish church, seen of photo #3, was built on top of some other ruins.

Hi JM :)

Fantastic photos :)

I am amazed at the solidity of the buildings more than the architecture.

Many thanks for sharing.

Have a good day :)

Saludos y ¡Viva Mexico!

I have been to Oaxaca, Mexico three times and loved it each time. I really enjoy going in July and attending the Guelaguetza festival. Oaxaca is full of art and creativity and wonderful people. Mitla was good too but I really like the small villages around Oaxaca where you can go in people's homes and buy wood carvings or Zapotec rugs. I also love the Zocalo in Oaxaca and Santa Domingo church and grounds with all of the beautiful cacti. Oaxaca is a truly great destination.
