Muhammed Ali Mosque

Located in the Citadel of Cairo, Egypt, this Ottoman mosque was commissioned by Muhammed Ali Pasha and built between 1830 and 1848 in memory of his older son, who died in 1816.

Hi JM!

Many thanks for a giving a tour of this exquisite mosque. The architecture is breath taking. As in all mosques, people have to squat on the carpet.

I think there is a difference between Ottomons and Egyptians and Ottomons are Turks. It is amazing to see such vast areas on earth have embraced Islam.

Thanks for the delightful photos and the breif note!

Have a wonderful day!
