Copán, a pre-colombian city, is located in western Honduras and is considered to be the site of a major Maya kingdom of the Classic era (5th through 9th Centuries).
Its remarkable stelaes, along with sculptured decorations on buildings, are known as some of the very finest of ancient Mesoamerica.
When these photos were taken, only 20% of the city could be visited, as the rest was still buried and/or covered by the jungle.

Hi JM :)
Excellent photos depicting what great things man was capable of doing without modern engineering knowlege and latest construction equipments.
It is amazing to see the marvellous pieces of art of lasting value. I hope Honduras Government is doing something to protect these monuments from the devastating effects of changing climatic conditions and save these masterpieces for posterity. I can see neglect and damage to the precious heritage sites.
Your photos are so good that I feel I was there to visit th place with you.
Thanks for sharing!
Have a fantastic day :)
Maravilhoso! Um dos locais onde sme duvida gostaria de estar, a arquitectura Etnica é algo fabuloso e as ruinas no seio da vegetação aprece levar-nos para outro Mundo!
