Palace of Winds

Built in 1799 to enable the women of the court to watch street processions while remaining in a strict state of purdah(*)
Jaipur (Rajasthan), India
(*) Seclusion of Muslim women inside the home, and the general term for wearing a veil.

Its name in Hindi language is हवामहल. I love this palace :)

What an incredible building; I've never seen anything like this! And to build such a structure for the purpose stated seems a bit incredible. Some people seem to never get past the 16th century!

Jaipur is a dazzling place. We loved our brief visit there. I assume you also went to the Amber Fort outside of town.

Fantastic building and I am in love with the color against the blue sky.
I would love to go to India! I got so close and can't believe I didn't go. (Pakistan) Oh well, someday!
