The Saqqara Pyramid

This step pyramid is believed to be created by Imhotep for King Djoser (2667 - 2648 BC), the second king of the 3rd Dynasty. It stands at Saqqara, close to Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

I really liked visiting this pyramid. I learned a lot on my trip to Egypt and that this was the first pyramid structures before building the large pyramids in Giza. There were a lot of great photo opportunities at Saqqara

What beautiful and desolate landscapes they have there. I can imagine how many stars you can see out there at night, it must be fantastic.

This is almost more impressive than the pyramids of Giza. You can sense them trying out the design to see how/if it works. Amazing.

Hi JM:)

This truly a marvel architecture and amazing to behold. I just can't believe that this was built more than 2500 years BC and still standing without being affected by the ravages of climate.Magnificent!

Where are those two people going on their donkeys or perhaps on their ponies in the desolate sand? To fetch water, I suppose.

Best wishes :)
