Akbar was the third and most ditinguished Moghul Emperor. The mausoleum is a majestic composition of deep-red sandstone and cool marble designed by the emperor himself and modified by his son after his death in 1605.

Impressive.
I guess a big impression is the aim of mausoleums.
Beautiful structure!
A great way to not be forgotten! An incredible structure and the tile work is fantastic! Superb capture as always!

The architecture of India is indeed impressive.
So ornate and incredibly beautiful. A lot of History here.
Been wanting to go to India to see its many colors and patterns and great structures. Awesome shots!
It looks amazing, I have never been in India but I think it has such a rich culture we will have to do this once.
Greetings,
Filip
Such ornate detail! A huge mausoleum! The repetition of shape along the parapet seems very medieval! I wonder why the extra pergola style tower was built at the top! An impressive structure!
How absolutely beautiful! I love the details, and the arches within the arches!
Thank you for sharing! Very interesting to see!
Wish you a nice day! : )
Fascinating and beautiful.

These Moghul Emperors knew how to make grand exits!
Quanta beleza arquitetônica. Parece-me arquitetura árabe.
Cumprimentos.
How impressing!!
beautiful and very impressive (even for a mausoleum)
I wished for a human figure to get some perspective, until I realised there were two people squatting there in the first shot. Are they beggars? Is that permitted? Or maybe just unable to be stopped.
It certainly is a beautiful monument. Its detail glorious. I guess it contributes to the tourist dollar in India.
Thanks for your continuing contribution to Taphophile Tragics, Jose.
I like it and it makes me want to visit, that simple !
How different peoples' tastes and aspirations are. Magnificent as this is, it would not do for me at all., just scatter my ashes to the four winds from a high and lonely place. Light a little candle in your heart for me a while, but bring no plastic flowers out of duty to my grave.
perhaps bigger than my apartment while still alive?
Judging by his tomb, somebody thought he was pretty great!
Such grand architecture!
God bless you!
Cezar
I love the decorative patterns — I'm finding those designs extremely inspiring!
