Very, very ornate. I'd like t be inside to see what that window looks like from the interior. I image the six figures are apostles. I suppose I could google it and find out!

Well, what do ya know, JM...I've actually been inside it. Long ago and loved Florence.

I'm always stunned by the ornate beauty of these monuments to a deity. They are so rich in symbolism and the statuary is exquisite. Very impressive structure.

Such a wonderfully ornate facade surrounding the beautiful rose window! Looks like different colors of stone making up the lovely architectural features.

What an amazing facade! Would something like this be possible to be produced today? I can't imagine that this level of artistry and commitment is still possible... Love the colors and the depth in the shadows.

The workmanship so many years ago is far more beautiful than work they do today! Fantastic photo. Diane

What a surprise! By the way, it would be 'del Fiore'...
