Such amazing, colourful decoration here! Many of the markings seem to be hand-written on the crosses! And the tall, raised grave seem to be like a central memorial!
Some of the decorations in the foreground, Jose, look like pompoms made from netting. Is there a particular saint day that is being celebrated here. I am trying to clue into what Arja commented. To me, this cemetery is very much for the working class members of Mexican society. The central memorial seems pretentious amongs such simplicity.

Wow!!! It's full of colors! I would like to visit Mexico some day. I love their culture and the Maya sites are one of my favorites places in the world.

They really make a big feast day of it in Mexico. In Latvia they light candles on the graves.

Very colourful decorations. I saw something similar in South America (except it was in the desert), lots of windmills and plastic flowers.

With wood and what looks like crepe paper, the culture of Chiapas must accept the emphemral quality of their tombstones.
