Taung Kalat


This shrine is home to 37 Mahagiri Nats, or spirits.

I wonder why there gods always seem to have a weapon of some kind in their hands? Any ideas?

Joan, this Burma nat(sprit) thing is very confusing and you really have to study it to fully understand it, even more when it goes along with buddhism. However these are the only ones I've seen there holding weapons...

Why 37? Why not 38 or 36 or 370?

Very interesting at any rate. There is much to see here and try to understand. I assume this shrine is where people come to worship or placate these spirits...

Bem interessante e a foto é linda!Eu nao conheço muito sobre o lugar, mas tenho acompanhado suas fotos e gostei bastante.
Eles também tem uma filosofia totalmente diferente de vida.

At first glance, I thought it was somewhere in India. This shrine is located at Mt Popa, one of the most popular destinations for locals.
