Zelve

Panajachel

Until the civil war of the late 70s and early 80s, Panajachel, located on the shores of Lake Atitlan (Guatemala) was nicknamed as Gringotenango (Place of the Foreigners) after the laid back hippie travellers who crowded the city. In recent years the town's tourist industry has boomed again.Lake Atitlan is surrounded by three volcanoes about 3.000m high. Unfortunatelly the mist hides one of them on the above pic.
