Kom Ombo

The Temple of Kom Ombo is on the right bank of the Nile in the town of the same name, 30kms north of Assuam, Egypt. The building is unique because of its 'double' design as it was dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and to the falcon god Horus. Its construction was started by Ptolomy VI (180-145 BC) at the beginning of his reign and added to by other Ptolemys.

A beautiful perspective of this temple Jose. This is one part of the world I have not yet gone to. It seems like the wildlife areas always pull me away. :)

Hi JM :)

Many thanks for taking me to this antique place. It is mind boggling to see this Temple still standing for almost 2000 years.

The carvings on the pillars\walls\roofs are still quite clear and has withstood the ravages of weather.

The skill and the ingenuity of the crafts men leaves me astounded.

Many thanks for sharing.

Best wishes :)
